Does lesson planning need a new plan?
Are old habits eating away valuable teachers time?
For 100+ years, teachers spent hours designing lesson plans!
Today, more teachers are using lessons planned by professionals, delivered through digital resources and educational technology platforms, allowing them valuable one on one time with students before and after school, as opposed to having to lesson plan as much.
Other thoughts in this area:
Are the new lesson planning methods better?
Who is designing these lesson plans?
Are they relevant to our country and curriculum?
Will it replace my role in a child’s learning?
The above concerns are all very valid, they need good research and investigation. In this saturated and complex educational technology resource environment, teachers need to know how to assess and qualify the digital resources they allow into their classroom.
However, so much time is being eaten away lesson planning and now, also searching through and piloting these edtech resources, we can understand why some teachers might stay with old habits!
